Let me begin by saying that I have never had a blog before. This is very new to me so it will take me awhile to figure out exactly what format I will be using for my posts.
Birdwatching is beginning to be a very enjoyable and exciting hobby for me. It was not until I actually made the effort to look for and listen to birds that I realized how many different varieties lived in my own backyard. Birds truly are beautiful creatures and when you hear their sweet joyous songs, you can't help but be filled with a little of that joy as well.
I intend to use this blog to track and monitor some of my more unusual bird sightings, as well as offer bits of information I have learned about these birds. My backyard is a bird haven. I have filled it with feeders of all sorts and several houses too, but it is the trees and flowers that really attract the birds. We have six different types of apple trees, two cherry trees, two apricot trees, grape arbors, a pear tree, several variety of lilacs, and a horse chestnut tree. All these trees produce wonderful flowers that not only attract the birds, but also the insects the birds like to eat. Not to mention the many cedars, maples, black walnuts and pines we have, which provide homes for the many birds I watch. Having access to view these many birds in the convenience of my own backyard is why I feel the need to share them on this blog with the rest of the world.
